Peripheral t-cell lymphomas: progress and challenges

چکیده

Peripheral T-cell lymphomas (PTCLs) represent a complex group of diseases that remain a management challenge today. Although CHOP (cyclophosphamide, doxorubicin, vincristine and prednisone) is considered the standard therapy, outcomes are disappointing and relapses are frequent. Therapeutic progress has lagged behind that for the more common and aggressive B-cell lymphomas. With disease rarity, studies are small and often retrospective in nature. A number of novel agents are now being tested exclusively in PTCLs, some with promising activity that are moving into the clinical care setting.

Immunophenotyping of Nodal Peripheral T-cell Lymphomas and its Association with Epstein-Barr Virus

Background: Immunophenotyping in the rare group of nodal Peripheral T-cell Lymphomas (PTCL) exposes interesting features such as T-cell marker downregulation and paradoxically, the presence of reactive, clustered large-sized CD20 positive B-cells (B-cell proliferation). Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) has been suggested as a putative etiology in pathogenesis of B-cell lymphoma. We aimed to review the ...

Mycosis fungoides and Sezary syndrome.

YCOSIS FUNGOIDES (MF) is an uncommon, indoM lent T-cell lymphoma first described by Alibert' in the early 1800s. It primarily involves the skin at early stages of the disease, with plaques being the typical feature. After a variable period of time, it may progress with development of cutaneous tumors and spread to visceral sites and lymph nodes (LNs).* SBzary syndrome (SS) is an erythrodermic v...

Cutaneous lymphomas and pseudolymphomas: A ten-year study at Emam Reza and Omid hospitals in Mashhad, using immunohistochemical and new classification methods

Background: Cutaneous lymphomas are monoclonal neoplastic proliferations of immune cells most frequently T or B cells that infiltrates skin. Development of new diagnostic methods, particularly those for immunophenotyping, have substantially changed classification of these neoplasms. These reasons prompted us to perform this study. Objective: To re-classify cutaneous lymphomas and pseudoly...

Changing the paradigms of treatment in peripheral T-cell lymphoma: from biology to clinical practice.

Despite enormous advances in our understanding of aggressive lymphomas, it is clear that progress in the peripheral T-cell lymphomas (PTCL) has lagged well behind other B-cell malignancies. Although there are many reasons for this, the one commonly cited notes that the paradigms for diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) were merely applied to all patients with PTCL, the classic "one-size-fits-a...

CD30-positive peripheral T-cell lymphomas share molecular and phenotypic features.

Peripheral T-cell lymphoma, not otherwise specified is a heterogeneous group of aggressive neoplasms with indistinct borders. By gene expression profiling we previously reported unsupervised clusters of peripheral T-cell lymphomas, not otherwise specified correlating with CD30 expression. In this work we extended the analysis of peripheral T-cell lymphoma molecular profiles to prototypical CD30...
